Susan has made her career to enhance emotional wellness for more than 23 years. Her approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing on a variety of modalities to best serve the needs and goals of her clients. Susan has worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bi-polar disorder, anger management, self-esteem, grief counseling and relationship issues. As indicated, Susan uses an eclectic approach; however, the modality she has found to be most useful is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT involves challenging/changing unhelpful automatic thoughts and beliefs and developing coping strategies/emotional regulation that target current issues. In addition to CBT, Susan employs mindfulness-based therapy and solution focused therapy. Susan views the therapeutic alliance as a partnership requiring mutual trust, honesty and commitment. Her style is warm, laid back, and interactive.
